About the artist

Louisa Andre was born in the east side of London in 1962. After studying degrees in fine art, illustration and graphic design in the 80's and 90's at the University of East London. In her final year she developed a series of prints and acrylic paintings using African symbols and sculptures called 'The story behind the Mask', from which she developed a series of cards and prints that have been exhibited in galleries and restaurants in and around London.

Commercial

She currently works as a professional Make-up Artist for Bobbi Brown beauty team. Her clients include the BBC's Johnny Vaughan Tonight Show celebrity make-up artist. The South Bank Show ITV1, T4 Poll winners party channel 4, MTV Music awards, MOBO awards. London, Paris, New York fashion week.

Fine arts

Louisa has exhibited in a number of mix shows as part of Colour and movement and is currently producing a new body of work using the theme 'The 12 signs of the zodica. This is a subject she believes helps us to look at our selves within and our connection with the universe. “Life itself means to separate and to be reunited to change form and condition, to die and be reborn“.

Teaching

Teaching has always interested Louisa and teaches black make up for The London school of fashion and in hair salons. On the fine arts side she has facilitated children workshops from 7 to 11 years of age.
